The action path

How the action path works

WhatsDo connects the booking system a business already runs to external AI agents. The agent finds the business, reads verified service data and checks live availability. Availability reads are live for Square Appointments. The booking write is in closed beta with a controlled merchant. Cancellation, rescheduling and agent-initiated payment are not available.

Checked

An engraving of rooms opening one into the next. The nearest doorways stand wide open, the last one is open only a hand-width, and a thin blue blade of light falls through that gap onto a counter with an open appointment book.
How far the agent path runs today, and where it stops.
  1. Find the business

An assistant can answer a local-service request before the business sees any traffic. The first step is identification: the agent has to resolve the request to one business and one location, not to a name inside a sentence.

  2. Read the service, not the description

A service an agent can act on has a duration, a price, a currency, a timezone and a rule about who performs it. Marketing copy does not carry those fields, so the agent reads them from the connected booking system.

  3. Read live availability

Availability is a non-writing call: it returns the open slots the calendar holds at that moment. This capability is live today for Square Appointments. It turns a recommendation into a real option.

  4. Confirm before anything is written

The exact fields are assembled and shown first: service, staff, time, duration and price. The user accepts that set explicitly. Nothing is written from an inferred intent.

  5. Write the appointment

The write creates the appointment in the provider account and returns an identifier meant to be matched against the provider-side record. It runs in closed beta with a controlled merchant, so a business cannot switch it on today.

  6. Where the path stops today

Each action carries its own state. A system that answers an availability call does not necessarily accept a write, and a write says nothing about cancellation, rescheduling or payment.
